Story of Oh Baby
Oh baby is in honor of mama bears, and partly inspired by notes, photos and newspaper clippings that have come to me in the mail over the years from my mom, who keeps me posted on black bear visits and happenings in my hometown. This is a monotype, meaning there is only one; it’s made from a couple of plates which I cut out, painted with intaglio inks and oil paint, then transferred to paper using an etching press. I let that impression dry, re-wet the paper, repainted the plates in areas where I wanted more contrast or furriness, and did a second pass on the etching press.
